Should slices in Export persona snap to objects?

Recommended Posts

Using Affinity Designer 2.1.1 on Windows.

In the Export persona and using the Slice Tool, I've tried to snap a few slices to objects on the artboard, and they don't snap... but I honestly can't remember if it has always been like this, or if it's a new bug? I've tried looking up the documentation but it says nothing about this. Trying to determine if I simply forgot this was always been like this before submitting a bug report.

Snapping to the artboard edges and other slices works fine though, sooo...??

Thanks!

It has always been like this. No snapping to anything other than the Canvas/Artboard or other slices in the Export Persona.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

And users have been asking for more comprehensive slice snapping support almost since the very first release, but so far no improvement for that even hinted at. ☹️

Serif repeatedly informed that it was a technical problem:

Yes, with snapping to 'floating' guides, but I'm not sure that rules out some kind of way around that, like snapping to the nearest integer guide value.

They also said in that topic "That's not to say this will never be possible in Affinity apps, simply it isn't a supported feature currently."
