Dingbat
I bought a MacBook Air and I often see that the little pictures have the top right hand corner folded over. What does this mean and will they print out like this.? It may be something to do with the computer which came with no instruction book and is very difficult to understand.
Staff Callum Posted July 3, 2023 Staff Share Posted July 3, 2023 Hi Dingbat, If you are referring to the folded corner shown in my attached screenshot this is just the default file icon on Mac for files that don't have a thumbnail it wont effect the print out etc. Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP. Nope, I assume you mean how certain document file types are presented in the MacOS Finder as icons then, like for example such here ... ... those are files and the MacOS system indicates those with as thumb images (contents wise) if possible. Different file types show up as different icons, common to the system known image types (like ... JPG, PNG, WEBP...) don't show up with a folded corner, but instead with a little image thumb preview of how it's contents would look like. - Where in contrast to that other app related file types (text, pdf, afdesign, zipped, ... and so on) are shown up with that folded corner here. The whole is just a file type visualization/representation of file manager icons and has nothing to do with how files, when opened in their respective associated app, would be printed out here! 56 minutes ago, Dingbat said: It may be something to do with the computer which came with no instruction book and is very difficult to understand. Seems you are so far not very used to computers, as such a presentation is common usage among computers graphical user systems here. - I would recommend you take a look over at Apple's online help topics about your computer and it's operating system etc. MacBook Air Essentials Are you new to Mac? macOS User Guide ... etc. ... GarryP
Is this the same MacBook Air that you bought in 2020, or a new one? https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/122792-installing-affinity-photo-on-macbook-air/ If it’s a new one then you might find that the operating system {macOS} is newer and, because of that, Apple might have changed the default file icons in the Finder app.

GarryP
When I scroll that image up and down the screen I get a ‘flashing’ effect that brings back memories. Oufti
