Hi,

Sorry if this has been asked before. I couldn't find a similar answer for my particular issue, but I am sure I have had this problem before and can't remember how to solve it.

When arranging 2 groups/images on a page/artboard, how can I mirror the movements of the 2 shapes so that they move in opposite directions at the same time? E.g. both groups moving inwards or outwards simultaneously. (example in attached photo).

Thank you,

Jack

The best way to do it would probably be dependant upon your exact requirements.

One way would be to use a Constraints Group as shown in my attached video, but there are probably lots of other ways.

Any idea why this sometimes crops in on the object when I start adjusting the constraints? Thanks.

And also sometimes the object suddenly gets stretched 🤔

Sometimes it happens to me that I need to move several objects the exact same amount of space. Here's my quick and dirty way: use the arrow keys and count.

E.g. arrow left moves an object a given amount of pixels to the left. That given amount of pixels (or any other unit) is defined under 'Options > Tools'.

Hitting five times arrow left and hitting five times arrow right on the other object gives exactly the same movements in opposite directions.

Note: you can use Shift + arrow key to multiply the distance by 10.

Thanks, Dominik - that is useful to keep in mind 👍

I haven't watched GarryP's video but this is how I do it with Publisher V1

I got nowhere using group so I nested the shapes within a rectangle shape set to no fill & no stroke

Thanks, David, I will give this method a go with the one set of objects that seems to not like being put in a group.

Can you give more details about these two things?
A screenshot and/or video is often useful when explaining a visual issue.

Sorry for the delay in replying to this! - I figured out one issue I was also having with regard to the objects disappearing when made into a constraint group. I have not yet reproduced the other errors as I have been able to do what I need for now, but I will update here when I revisit this document and if/when the problem reoccurs.

Thanks for your help.
