Set CMYK Standard Profile

Recommended Posts

macOS v2 Universal License
macOS 10.15.7

I have a question about how to set the colour space in the preferences, not the setting in a single file.

The desktop apps Designer, Photo and Publisher do not save the settings I set (without having opened a file).

> Preferences > Colour
CMYK Colour Profile: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2

I would like to have as standard:
ISO Coated v2 (ECI)

If I close the app after setting the colours, the app / apps (they behave the same) has again the CMYK colour profile: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2.

What can I do to ensure that my in Preferences selected colour profile is saved as default? In version 1 it has worked.

Am I doing something wrong?

You can create template files (export as template) for that use case.

Hi @tersmuse,

I've just checked this on my Ventura Mac and the default profile set in preferences is updating in the new document interface as expected, even after a restarting the apps. I also checked in an existing document by changing the colour space to CMYK, it immediately defaulted to ISO coated v2. Unless I have misinterpreted and you were expecting it to change somewhere else?

I don't believe this profile is available as standard on Macs (or mine at least), as I had to install the ICC profile to test this but it did work after moving the ICC profile to my ~/Library/Coloursync/Profiles directory and then restarting the app, I could then set it in Preferences as my default and when I set a document to CMYK in the new document interface, it showed ISO Coated v2 as expected. If you were to try setting another profile as your default in preferences, does this work? Or, if you were to try this with a different default RGB profile, does that work?

@NathanC

You are right. I took another profile (FOGRA ...) and that was saved.

I also had to add ECI manually in version 1
/Applications/Affinity ….app/Contents/Resources

I completely deleted version 1 with AppCleaner before installing version 2. After reinstalling version 2, the ECI colour profile was included (see screenshot) in the list, so I didn't add it manually. That was a mistake.

I now added the icc files manually in all three apps, selected them – and it is saved. Thanks for the hint!
