orangefizz Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Devs: in fact there's a larger problem here. Even when I type in values in the blur or noise or whatever effects dialog, the value is not actually used. Only when you physically move the slider, does the preview display any change (in my case within a selection). Same thing trying to grow/shrink a selection: entering numeric values has no effect, only using the slider. This is particularly problematic because the default values in the slider are large (1.9%, then 4.5%, etc.) and there appears to be no way (that I know of) to make these more incremental. MikeTO Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Affinity requires that you press tab for the change to take effect, this is true for all text fields across all of the apps. However, I agree that for the effects windows it would be nice if an exception were made so that effects could be previewed more easily. In general, you can hold down Option while using the arrow keys to change the value in smaller increments. Hold down Shift to change it with larger increments. There have been some reports of issues with these modifiers in v2 and I don't recall if they're fixed in the latest 2.1 beta yet. The problem is most likely because you type in a 3 but you don't enter it, the field is waiting to se if you type in another number 0 - 9. The value has not been confirmed. With AP the enter key adjusts the value/preview but does not apply it until you click "Apply". Have to get my brain to change behavior here. Old Bruce Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 @orangefizz, I had assumed we are talking about Effects in Designer. But you mentioned noise. 1 hour ago, orangefizz said: Even when I type in values in the blur or noise or whatever effects dialog, Here on Mac I see no Noise Effect in Designer. And now you are mentioning Photoshop. Is that just to illustrate User Interface usage, or are you using Affinity Photo and just placed this question in the wrong forum?
