Pressing ctrl + 1 document zooms to 100%.
Is there a shortcut to zoom to 100% and center the view to the selected Element?

I think this should be the default behaviour when pressing ctrl +1

I disagree, unless I’ve misunderstood your specification.

It might be nice if there were an option to zoom and centre at the same time when Ctrl+1 is used (maybe Shift+Ctrl+1, perhaps?) but I don’t think it should only do this every time Ctrl+1 is used as that would spoil existing workflows which rely on the way it currently works.

For example, when touching-up photos it’s useful to be able to zoom in/out while looking at the same part of the image, and centring the image each time would hinder that process with extra scrolling required on each zoom.

yes, you are right

I am looking at this from a webdesign perspective where 100% zoom ist the "final look". In print you do not have a specific final zoom.
It would be most useful if you could set the shortcut yourself

I think that any final look/final zoom is completely irrelevant here.
As GarryP writes, the problem is the size of the image, where its constant "centering" in a situation where adjustments are made on the edges of the image would be maddening.

I am talking about affinity designer, not Photo

Until now no-one has mentioned a particular application, but, in this specific case, I would say that all of the applications in the suite should work the same way for reasons of consistency.

I think the same argument as I gave above applies to all of the Affinity applications: Nice to have an option to zoom either way, but forcing a replacement of the existing result of zooming with the other would harm some existing workflows.

You can accomplish the equivalent of this with Zoom To Selection (Shift+Command+0 on the Mac) followed by Zoom to 100% (Command+1 on the Mac).

You can currently use an external macro utility to automate that (use one user-defined shortcut to send those to the app in sequence).

Once scripting is available this should in theory be a trivial thing to automate using a script within the Affinity apps themselves.
