Almost all macOS programs have Next Tab/Previous Tab menu options.  Affinity Photo seems to be missing this option.

When working with multiple images at the same time, it is often useful to move from one tab to another to quickly view which items are open.

On Windows, Ctrl+Tab is Next Window, and Ctrl+Shift+Tab is Previous Window.

You'll find them in Shortcuts, Photo, Miscellaneous.

Mac versions of the Affinity application probably have these, too. Perhaps Cmd+Tab and Cmd+Shift+Tab, but the Shortcuts Settings will tell you what they are for you.

Ah, I see them: "Switch to Next View" and "Switch to Previous View."

I've never seen a tab referred to as a "View." In the other programs I use, including the ones that come with macOS "View" has a different meaning.

Must be a language thing.

Thanks!

The are not the ones I meant. Those also exist on Windows, but with no shortcuts by default, and in a different section of the shortcuts.

They only apply, on Windows, if you've used View > New View to create a new view of your project.

Have you tried using the Affinity default Command + `

That is the misnamed Tilde key. The one under the escape key, the one one above the Tab key.

I'm curious. If you switch to Serif Defaults, do you see something like what you've shown, just with different key assignments?

I'm surprised that it's that different from the Windows version of the application:

We do have a Switch to Next View, which defaults to `, but it is used only for Views, not for Windows/Tabs.

I don't think Affinity v2 has any of the fine handling of separate documents opened at the same time that we know from other programs. It is something I have seen implemented in software since the last millennium. Fortunately, I rarely use this myself, but I have definitely noticed the lack of professional window handling in Affinity v2.

I think what you're looking for exists in Windows, as I have shown above.

Yeah, I think part of my confusion was the fact that some standard macOS interface keyboard shortcuts have been repurposed.

In every single macOS program, Command-` cycles between open windows.  And Command-Tab is used by the OS to change between open programs.

Fortunately, Affinity allows me to change most of the shortcuts to restore expected behavior, and reassign the conflicting shortcuts.

I wonder if this is a case of Affinity trying to keep the shortcuts the same between operating systems.  Microsoft does that, and it's a disaster.  For some reason, software companies think it's more likely that someone is going to use their program on multiple computers than people would use more than one program on a single computer.

As @Old Bruce showed, you can tell Affinity to use the standard macOS shortcuts. Have you done that?
