ceocan Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 I'm having a problem with shapes in Affinity Designer. Whenever I snap two shapes together there will be a line between those shapes. It is visible in Affinity Designer itself and on the exported images. I tried to make a pattern with symbols and the problem also occurs. I've searched the forum and internet to solve this problem, but there isn't one that works for me. From what I'm getting this is a bug in the software that's been in Affinity Designer for years now. When will this be solved? I expected that V2 would have dealt with the problem but it didn't unfortunately. Quote

NotMyFault Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 You can avoid the issue, but this requires very careful planning and execution: Use pixel view to inspect if seams are visible use transform panel, with decimal digits set to 6, to inspect position, and size to be integer (not fractional) Use helper rectangles to perfectly cut off layers at integer boundaries (by masking or clipping) Activate snapping, force pixel alignment, deactivate move by whole pixels carefully inspect nested layers: every level must be pixel-aligned. NotMyFault Posted March 9, 2023 Posted March 9, 2023 left: seamless. right: your version. You need to zoom to 50% or 100%, other zoom levels show a non-existing seamline. export to PNG shows no seam. seamless pattern.afdesign Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. Thnx for the tips. I tried to use them, but I can't seem to get it right. I must be doing something wrong. Could you post a video how you did it, so that I can compare it with the way I did it? Quote

Pšenda Posted March 10, 2023 Posted March 10, 2023 (edited) Object position and size must be "pixel" perfect, not "mm" perfect. vs Edit: try change document unit to pixels (in Document setup, or top/left corner on Ruler). ceocan Posted March 10, 2023 Author Posted March 10, 2023 This fixed the problem. Many thnx to the both of you! Kinda funny that such small things can solve such big problems. Been busy with it for hours. Pšenda 1 Quote
jameshurley Posted August 24, 2024 Posted August 24, 2024 Something that solved my problem (in addition to the things in this post) was making sure that the position of the artboard itself was integer pixels. The lines persisted up until I moved the dartboard. Quote
