I tried to search my problem but couldn't find anything. Couldn't figure out the best way to word it so maybe that's why.

Anyway, my current version of Designer is 1.9.1.979. Of course, the screen pops up for me to download the latest version. I download it and it starts to load but then stops and says that the most current version is already loaded. Yet, when I check the "about" screen it shows 1.9.1.979. And every time I open the program it tells me there's an update. I've updated Affinity Photo more times than I can count and have updated Designer in the past (even though I'm currently way behind) so I can't imagine I'm doing something wrong. I thought about uninstalling it and reinstalling but I'm afraid it won't install. At least now I can use it as is but would like to get it up to date. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Hi, assuming you bought Affinity v1 directly from Serif you can sign in to your account on the Serif store website and download the latest version from the Downloads page.

MikeTO......YES, I've done that (numerous times). I believe I said that in my post already. It won't load. I get an error message saying the newest version is already installed yet when I check the version on my copy of Designer it shows 1.9.1.979 so obviously it isn't the newest version. But thanks anyway.

Please show us the name of the file you downloaded (screenshot from File Explorer, for example), and a screenshot of the error message you're getting when you try to run it.

Hi Walt,

Here are the screenshots of what's going on. Just an FYI, I downloaded the update for Affinity Photo and it updated just fine. That's why I'm confused as to why Designer is having issues. The "About version" image is what I see after it gives me the error message.

Thanks.

Are you trying to run that affinity-designer-1.10.6 file?

Are you trying to run it while 1.9.2 is already running?

If so, please close Designer 1.9.2, and then try running the affinity-designer-1.10.6 file.

I've done it both ways in trying to get this to work. When I run the 1.10.6 file with the old version closed it goes through the motions like everything is fine and at the end I get the error message. So, I open Designer back up to see the version and it's still the old version. I'm wondering if I need to uninstall my current version and start fresh? I'm afraid to do this in case it won't load at all. At least now I'm able to use the program. I just wanted to keep it updated. Thank you again.

Hi @prsdeb,

Chances are there is a problem with your Designer installation and the only feasible way to get the app updated to uninstall the app first and then install the latest version. For a more thorough uninstallation, you could try uninstalling V1 first via the Microsoft Uninstall Troubleshooter tool, instructions below:

  1. Go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed-or-removed-cca7d1b6-65a9-3d98-426b-e9f927e1eb4d and download the troubleshooter
  2. Run the troubleshooter and select 'Uninstalling'
  3. From the list of programs find and select Affinity Photo and then press Next
  4. Follow the uninstaller wizard through until it's completed
  5. Reboot your PC and then try installing v1.10.6.
