Paul Mudditt
EXTERNAL DISPLAY CONNECTED - Present on external display enabled Affinity Photo, Navigator View starts up in pixel mode (obviously) BUT the settings indicate Vector mode, only when you toggle the setting to pixel and back to vector is a vector view shown. Staff Dan C Posted February 20, 2023 Staff Share Posted February 20, 2023 Hi @Paul Mudditt, Thanks for your report! Just to confirm, is the external display connected as a duplicated display, or an extended display with Stage Manager? Have you changed the 'Display Zoom' setting within iPadOS settings to 'More Space' or similar? Many thanks

Obviously this is in Affinity Photo on iPad so quite unexpected that the vector/pixel view from Designer appears as it is not there when disconnected from external display. Staff Dan C Posted February 20, 2023 Staff Share Posted February 20, 2023 Thanks for verifying - according to the helpfile, this is expected behaviour for these options to appear with an external display connected: https://affinity.help/photo2ipad/English.lproj/contents.xml?page=pages/Extras/externalDisplays.html?title=Using external screens However I can't quite understand this, as I wouldn't expect the 'X-Ray', 'Outline' etc view modes to be available in Photo, regardless of if an external display is present. Equally, if these options should be present then as you've mentioned the default setting of 'Vector' View isn't functioning as expected - therefore I'm going to confirm with our team if these actually should appear and if so I will log the issue with the Vector view, if not I will log this for these options to be removed and the helpfile updated. Frustratingly, these Navigator settings don't appear if you are actively screen recording using the built-in recorder. I can't quite explain this behaviour, but I'll be sure to mention this with our team also to see if we can change this behaviour. I hope this helps

I hope this helps Hi Dan, I'm not worried about it just thought I would report the anomaly which also happens if I airplay to my Mac Mini. I did try the screen recording which as you say does not work so a poor iPhone video here to show what happens hopefully for the Dev's. (Right near the end on screen says vector when you can see pixels, toggle to hairline and back and vector view engaged.) NotMyFault
Hi, how do you get Navigator Panel showing View Modes in Photo? Photo normally is only in Photo view mode, fixed. To my knowledge & experiments, this is only possible in Designer, or Publisher (in Publisher and Designer, but not in Photo Persona). Or is this offered if you have multiple displays? If yes, why not offering this with the internal display? If you connect a second display via the USB-C port OR by mirroring to your Apple TV, your M1 Mac Mini or your modern Samsung/LG etc TV which supports airplay AND you have enabled "Present on external Displays" the Main View Mode from Designer appears. Pretty sure it was never meant to and like many reports I have seen it is fairly obscure to find. Certainly not worried about it, not even sure why I reported it now, fairly insignificant. As to why not offer it, we all know how the apps are constructed, so simply encouragement to buy the other app and I applaud them for doing it this way. If yes, why not offering this with the internal display? As I understand it, from the helpfile, when connecting an external display you should be shown the menu at the top of the navigator to manually set the view / zoom on an external display, when you are using an external monitor as an extended display, rather than duplicating the iPad display. For example you may want the zoom on the external monitor to be a higher value than on the iPad screen. However the lower section that is appearing, for 'Main View Mode' and 'Split View Mode' shouldn't appear as these options aren't designed to be provided in Photo, and this is the bug I have logged with our team Paul Mudditt and NotMyFault
