The quick way, in Photo, apply the Erase White Paper filter (under Colours).

For more control use the Blend Options (cogwheel at top right of the layers panel). Have a look at the Help file for more details.

@fotis575How did you generate the black and white bitmap image? Did the filter do that? I have been assuming AP did not do B&W bitmaps. Perhaps I need to explore further. Thanks!
