MSIX: Package size under Apps and Start menu pinning

Possibly the size specification here does not fit...

Start menu pinning without app title is some kind of ugly. I more like the old version pinning style.

Those are the execution aliases, the actual applications are sandboxed.

My V2 apps pinned to Start have both icon and title, on both my Win 10 and Win 11 machines.

Do you know if it supports Microsoft Store and MXIS-based apps?

Some of the Start menu and taskbar "replacement" tools don't support Microsoft Store or MSIX-based apps. They only work with traditional EXE programs, or MSI-based installers. Just as some applications don't let you point to Store or MSIX-based apps as helpers.

Unfortunately, the FAQ does not seem to address this. And I'm not interested enough to open a discussion on their forums or search them. But thanks; it's not one I'd heard of.

ClassicShell was a biggie, very popular, when Windows 8 and the Metro UI hit but the original dev moved on. I think it's been picked up by someone else. Microsoft has used their SOP on the Start menu since: Make it just barely good enough (to kill off the competition) but no better than absolutely required.

If you install the app from the Microsoft store instead the correct size will appear.
