TheDoc Posted January 13, 2023 Posted January 13, 2023 I have a 300 page cookbook that I created in Affinity Publisher. It includes Images and text. Each recipe name is created as a Heading 1. The Table of Contents uses the Heading 1. The only export that I can use, it seems for Amazon KDP, that Publisher creates is PDF, although Amazon warns that PDF is not ideal for ebooks. It basically wants perfect ePUB. I created the PDF which looks good and the table of contents works. However when I download to Amazon. The entire book looks terrible. The table of contents aremushed together and are not on individual lines. Many words are run on. For example " Hot Cross Buns " comes out "HotCross Buns" and "how are you" may come out as "howareyou" or "how areyou" etc. Lists that in the PDF come out: 1. Cook for 30 minutes 2. Cool for another 15 minutes 3. Now serve on large plate comes out as "1. Cook for 30 minutes2. Cool for another 15 minutes 3. Now serve on large plate" I even tried taking the PDF and creating a Doc file in Calibre, but then the "Word" file is so corrupted from the conversion that it is unusable. Any ides on how we can actually use Affintiy Publisher to create Amazon KDP ebooks. This is used by many people, but appears to be useless when attempting to create the file for KDP. Quote

To the best of my knowledge we cannot make ebooks other than PDFs. v_kyr Posted January 15, 2023 Posted January 15, 2023 APub can't export to something else as PDF. - But you can tryout if Calibre can maybe produce something out of your pdf here ... Calibre Calibre FAQ Calibre ebook-convert <--*** try here PDF to EPub Note, that for eBook production some eBook creation software (which is explicitely build for such tasks) is usually the much better way to go here! Anna Foley Simmons Posted June 24, 2023 Posted June 24, 2023 Just wanted to check if ebook creation is on the roadmap for Affinity Publisher yet? So glad I realised this feature omission before I started building my book! 😅 Guess it's time to spin up my old Adobe subscription again. Quote

Serif no longer comments on future plans for their software so until/unless it appears in a beta there is no way to say if/when it might be added. On what are probably very rare occasions, we do get an early heads up. Such as this fairly recent post from one of Serif's moderators: But to paraphrase what @R C-R said, don't hold your breath until you see it listed in the latest beta version. And nobody is likely to announce that ahead of the developers deciding that their work is sufficiently advanced to be exposed to public scrutiny.
