Hi there,

I've created a document with photos, illustrations and text. Nothing crazy and the file size is coming out 50mb + and anything I do I can't get it lower than that.

Had no issues with more complex files with V1 and could get them very low.... I've tried everything 30+ variations now, so sorry I had to come for support :( hope thats ok!

any help greatly appreciated!

What file type are you trying to export to? What OS & version are you running & which app are you trying to export from?

All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.6 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7

Hi there,

Details attached

Trying to export to PDF.

I've got a number of photos in the file, which are linked rather than embedded... I don't think I had this issue with V1, or indesign...

Any help much appreciated.

I'm drag and dropping them in like I would of with inDesign and then using 'smallest size' but tweaking it up to 130 dpi / 70% jpeg quality as the 72 dpi is really pixellated.

Comes out 40 - 140mb depending how I tweak the settings.

No matter what I do cannot get it below 40mb.

Worked with documents 10 times the size of this with no issues before..... If I'm dojng something wrong with affinity compared to indesign thats cool just can't work out what it is...

Thanks so much for the help.

Your last screenshot shows JPEG quality set to 85%, not 70%.

I've also got 30 exported versions with tons of various setting changes and cannot get this file size down.

I took a screenshot as generic smallest file size atm. It isn't making the file smaller.

What can I do to get support on this?

If you mean the last screenshot above, you have not set the JPEG quality to 70% as you said, but to 85%. It also appears from the earlier screenshot that you have a large number of linked JPEG files in the document, so they will all have to be included in the PDF export, adding substantially to its size.

To verify or exclude a possible issue with V2 only: Can you make a test with just 1 page (or just 1 of the images) copied in a separate V1 .afpub with same effective DPI, then export from V1 and with V2 with same settings and compare the two resulting PDF sizes? If they differ in a similar unexpected way can you then upload the two PDF files?

It might also help if you tell us how many linked JPEG images are listed in the Resource Manager & approximately what the total of all their file sizes is. This is because I think if you are exporting to PDF all those images will have to be embedded in the exported PDF, adding substantially to its size.

Your colour format in File > Document Setup > Colour is set to RGB/16 and produces a 50MB export.

If set to RGB/8 you get a 3MB export

Do you need this document to be RGB/16?
