Kdiver25 Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 Hi hi, I wonder if anyone can help. I am using affinity to adjust sewing patterns for projector sewing. In order to do this I need to know where the seam lines are. I currently have a file with the outline of a pattern and need to drawn the seam allowance say 1cm all the way around the inside of this outline. Is there a function that will easily allow this? All the examples I have seen are about expanding the shape to add onto the outside? Thanks Quote
NotMyFault Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 can you provide an example document, and a mock-up where the lines should go? sfriedberg Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 @Kdiver25The answer to your question is "Use the contour tool in Designer". You can generate contour lines inside, outside, or both inside and outside your original curve. Quote
Brian_J Posted December 27, 2022 Posted December 27, 2022 One possible option is to apply a 1cm inner stroke to the outline shape, then expand the stroke. After expanding the stroke, with the Node Tool, delete the outer path of the stroke and you’ll be left with a single path 1cm from the outline shape. Using the Contour Tool like sfriedberg suggested is an easier option. Quote Windows 10 22H2, 32GB RAM | Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 (MSI/EXE)
Kdiver25 Posted December 28, 2022 Author Posted December 28, 2022 Thanks for the replies, @sfriedberg with the contour tool, I can drag it in to get it to go inside my original shape and then change the radius to my measurement say -0.5inch but then I bake and the original shape disappears, do I just duplicate before doing the contour? Thanks Quote

You can also alter contour line to a dashed line, different colour to make it more obvious. Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen).
