max3.2 Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 Hello, Im getting strange issues with refine selection. To reproduce the below, I - Created a document and pulled in a stock image - Chose a selection tool and hit "refine" - Set all sliders to default values - Select Foreground, a large brush and just add a stroke. As you can see, there is a main stroke, a sort of soft feather outside and then this harsh border. Any ideas where this is from and how to prevent? This is reproducible with different images. Running 1.10.6 on macOS. Haven't used Photo for a while, don't recall this issue from like a few month ago. Quote
Old Bruce Posted December 11, 2022 Posted December 11, 2022 @max3.2, Just a guess. Your brush has Wet Edges set in the Context Menubar. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
max3.2 Posted December 13, 2022 Author Posted December 13, 2022 No, nothing on. Additionally, can't really select a brush with a context menu once refine selection is on. Quote
max3.2 Posted December 13, 2022 Author Posted December 13, 2022 Just checked on iPad. Same behavior for me. Am I doing something wrong here? Can someone reproduce? This is very annoying. Quote

Refine does not use brushes from the Brushes panel, if that is what you mean. max3.2 Posted December 13, 2022 Author Posted December 13, 2022 Yes, correct. So my issue should not be brush related but persists. Could someone run the few steps above to check if this is on my side? Quote
h_d Posted December 13, 2022 Posted December 13, 2022 Like this? I think the reason - following your steps to the letter - is that you're not actually making a selection with your selection tool before you press Refine. Refine does exactly that - takes an existing selection and makes it more precise.
