Can’t search for and place images in Publisher

Trying to search for an image to Place into a Picture Frame cause very erratic behaviour.

Cant search. The app does crazy things.

Ok, let me try.

I have a document open in Publisher (iPad) and I want to locate and place an image from the iCloud.

I select Place, then select iCloud from the interface, then tap the search bar at the top to locate an image called “Paper Texture.png”

The focus is in the search panel and when I tap the P of Paper, the active window closes, and the open finder panel disappears and I’m back in the document, only not in the same place. If I try it again it just gets worse in terms of the resulting actions.

Hi @HarryMcGovern,

I have no such issues now, but I had in the past and a force-restart helped. You should probably try to see if it’s document-related, and if nothing helps, to reinstall APub.

Still not working.

Even did a Splash Scree reset. I still can’t search from the Place action.

Did you do a force restart of the iPad itself?

I think that's a standard Files dialog, so if it's not working for searching I don't think that would be an Affinity issue.

In any case, I do not have that problem on my iPad, but I'm using a physical keyboard, not the on-screen keyboard you're using, which I suppose could make a difference.

Hi Walt. Yep, tried everything I can think of. 
It’s becoming a real pain.

It’s beginning to look like a problem with the iPad. I’m really hoping not, but other apps are starting to show the same problem.

Im trying to clear space on the iPad. That’s a struggle.

I’ll have to see if there is a newer iPad out. I’m using a Mini 6, so we’ll see.

How much free space do you have? Sometimes the Hard Reset for Cache Memory just isn’t enough.

If it’s a ‘struggle’ (understandable) because you have so much on the iPad itself…that ultimately may be the reason.

Apps usually require a mandatory allotment of Free space just to run, and when going over that can cause issues.

‘Saw you have used Cloud Storage, but can use more (Dropbox etc) or even opt for some Physical Storage Devices to free up memory.

Personally, I have a 256G but only have used 120G leaving the rest free, so little issues…but have Archived most of my important keeps.

That’s a lot alright.

Have you tried Offloading Unused Apps and such? Supposed to keep the data, but free the actual App Gigs. And I do know LumaFusion can be a culprit, if you do not Clear Cache/Assets from within the App. Deleting from folders and such can keep the remnants, as told by the Developers. Have to get in habit of that if using, as I know I had to.

‘Your other Apps seem about right, in size comparison to mine even.

Hoping nothing wrong with the IPad itself, just know that some Forum users on even an app like Procreate were reporting performance issues…but learning that they only had about 10G of free space left…and the App required so much to run (and without issues). So may be the culprit? 
‘Just spent hours Arching my own stuff and still only half used.

SOLVED:

Turns out there was not enough space left on the iPad. Not an Affinity problem.

I’ve removed a lot of unused apps.

I moved a ton of files and folders to Dropbox, effectively removing them from ICloud. Still moving a lot more.

So basically, the search function now works again. Not an Affinity problem.
