KarlLegion Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 If there are any live filter/adjustment layers not masking to any layers, the clip canvas command can't clip anything. If you move it back to mask any layer/group, then the clipping canvas works again. It's a bug since V1 the whole time a year ago. While my recording doesn't show the dropdown menu, please check the history panel for what I have done. Affinity Photo 2 2022-11-23 13-47-25.mp4 Quote
NotMyFault Posted November 23, 2022 Posted November 23, 2022 Nice catch. There are at least 3 bugs when doing this: New document add rectangle in nice color add bilateral blur filter (becomes nested) Clip to canvas adds extra pixels (bug 1: radius is 0, noo need for extra pixel) undo clip canvas unnest blur layer clip canvas (bug 2: does nothing, as you reported) nest blur filter to child position choose channels panel invert alpha choose move tool bug 3: the filter layer has a size of >2x the canvas. The mask should be simply black (no size). KarlLegion Posted November 23, 2022 Author Posted November 23, 2022 I had experienced similar and various other bugs regarding using adjustment/live filter layers > clip canvas combo. Sometimes it adds extra canvas when I clip.(likely due to the bug3 you pointed out), sometimes gives me a hairline of pixels around my transparent background (don't know what causes this nor the way to reproduce. Likely related to my non-integral canvas size. Only found out when using the exported image on other program.) And some other bugs I just don't know what to say... Even though I prefer to work my file non-destructively with live masks, sometimes I just rasterize them for stability. 😔 Quote

Would be great if the remaining issues can be solved in similar time Chris B 1 Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | MBP M3 Windows 11 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 | Dell 27“ 4K iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps.
