Slight rework of the rulers

Recommended Posts

couple of things that would be nice when it comes to the rulers.  It would be nice if they were more like an actual ruler (not just a bunch of hashmarks) but different lengths for different measurements (1/2, 1/4, 1/8, etc)

the OTHER thing that would be really nice is the position markers.  you can tell exactly where your cursor is on the ruler EXCEPT when you are dragging a guide onto the page.  then they disappear.  really difficult to place a guide based on the ruler unless its like RIGHT up against the page.

I would also like to see an option to choose between architectural rulers (1/2, 1/4, etc., as currently seems to be in use, at least for inches) and engineering rulers (marked for 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, etc.).  Sometimes an engineering ruler would be more useful than an architectural one.

I'd also add that it would be cool to be able to change the unit type in the file by right-clicking on the ruler and selecting from the context menu, as Adobe has done.

You mean something like this?

From a technical illustration point of view it would be great to add custom units like standard architectural (imperial, metric, civil, etc.) scales. AND it would be a pipe dream to have different custom rulers per layer. Like, as an example, one layer which is 1/8/' = 1'-0" and another 3/4" = 1'-0', 1" = 200', etc.
