No values with decimal places can be set

Hello,

I noticed that I can't make any entries with decimal places, although I have set up to three decimal places for all units of measurement in the settings.

Once I can't even set an outline with 0.5pt. As soon as I confirm the value with Return, the value is reset to 1pt or if 0pt was previously entered as the value, the entered value is reset.

The decimal point values can only be set using the slider. This is annoying and imprecise.

There are also problems when you have a value with a decimal place, that when you scroll with the mouse wheel from a value of, for example, 2.545pt, the value suddenly changes to 2545pt and not to 3pt as usual.

I have the above problem in all programs.

Please correct the errors as soon as possible.

The national language of the program corresponds to the operating system. I use 'German' as the language of the country. I don't know if that's the reason.

If I tried to enter a value with a comma, the value jumps back to the previous value.

If I enter the value with a period, the period is removed and I suddenly have a value that is much too large. More precisely, if I enter a value of 1.5, it suddenly becomes a 15.

This problem has come up before. Personally, I would have thought it would be easier to enable using either a comma or a full stop/period in decimals, rather than making it language dependant!

@PaRunk

Can not replicate this. I also use the localized german Designer version on Windows 10 - no special laguage settings in my OS.

I found some detail in your video: your document unit settings are Millimeter, your OS language is german, but the values in the transform panel are shown with a dot "." as decimal separator ? In my german localization this is shown with Komma "," which is the standard localized numbering scheme.

May you have some colliding Windows localization settings (divergent Numering scheme in Windows settings) ?

A colliding Windows numering scheme may explain the unexpected conversion. In english scheme the dot "." is the decimal separator and the "," is the thousands separator. So if you type the number STRING "123,456.00" this is the number 123456.00. In german this is just the oposite and incorret and should have been repesented as STRING "123.456,00".

This is exactly what i see in my german Designer version. If i type "10,5" this is accepted as the number 10.5. If i type "10.5" this is converted to 105. The app interprets "10.5" as a number with thousands separator in german numbering scheme. To prove this just type in "10.5,2" which is converted to the number 105.2 in german.

But this should not happen anyway and the app should be smart enough to convert input "10,5" to 10.5 and vice versa if no additional seperator char is present in the input STRING ?!

This is how it looks like in my german Designer version - all decimals are always shown with Komma "," as decimal separator:

Hello,

I was having the same issue and hoped this was sorted out with v2. Here is what I found out:

Although my system region is set to german, the decimal separator aswell as the digital grouping symbol (thousands) were both set to period by default. I don't know if this was a setup of my windows version but I don't remember me or our IT-Department changing this.

After I changed the decimal separator to coma and restarted Affinity, this is working fine.

In the your windows settings you need to go to Region; Weitere Datums-, Uhrzeit- und Ländereinstellung; Region: Datums, Uhrzeit- oder Zahlenformat ändern; Weitere Einstellungen.

I hope this helps.
