Eagleworks Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Hi, I have upgraded my Mac to os Ventura and now the dialogue print box does not appear when I try to print. ( I am currently having to export it to print which is not ideal..) How can this issue be resolved, or do I have to get version 2? ( which I am planning on doing but hopefully not just yet) Many thanks Quote
MikeTO Posted November 15, 2022 Posted November 15, 2022 Hi and welcome to the forum. The Print dialog appears for me in both v1 and v2 wit Ventura so I'm unsure why it's not appearing for you. Could you try creating a new document and then immediately choosing Print. Does it appear then? If not then it has to be something specific to your document. If it still doesn't appear for a new document then I'm out of guesses. Do you have any of the other Affinity apps and do you have the same problem with them? Which version 1 do you have installed? It should be 1.10.5. Good luck! Hanjo Posted November 28, 2022 Posted November 28, 2022 (edited) Since a few days I could only print once. The print dialog would only open after a restart, but now I cannot print at all both from Affinity Photo 2 and Affinity Designer 2. Nothing happens when pressing Command+p or using the menu. THIS HAS TO BE CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE THERE IS NO WORKAROUND !!!! Edited November 28, 2022 by Hanjo Quote
Staff Chris B Posted November 28, 2022 Staff Posted November 28, 2022 Hi Hanjo, Can you please clarify what operating system you have? A temporary workaround (until we figure the issue out) would be to export to a PDF and print that. Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
Staff Chris B Posted November 29, 2022 Staff Posted November 29, 2022 I've merged these two threads together as they are the same issue. We are currently looking into this issue. Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
Staff Chris B Posted November 29, 2022 Staff Posted November 29, 2022 So far these are the only 2 reports I've seen with this issue. Can you confirm if the Print dialog appears in other applications? Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
Themozzer Posted May 14, 2024 Posted May 14, 2024 I'm having the same problem too. I recently updated my M1 MacBook to Sonoma Version 14.5 (23F79) and now none of my Affinity apps show the print dialogue box. It was working fine until the update and all other apps open the print box. Quote

It was working fine until the update and all other apps open the print box. As a first step, restart your computer again just in case. Then, if you sometimes work with another monitor but are not currently, reattach the other monitor because the dialog might be opening off screen. Finally, try starting Affinity with Ctrl held down (press and hold immediately after clicking the icon). Release the key with the Clear User Data screen appears. Clearing your user data might solve the issue. VeF Posted November 4, 2024 Posted November 4, 2024 Hello, I have the same print bug on V2.5.5, see my post in the V2 bug forum (no answer to the problem). It seems to be common to V1 and V2. For me it happened suddenly, without update to Sonoma. I’m on Ventura 13.5, Affinity was working perfectly 3 weeks ago. I haven’t changed anything, but for a few days the Print dialog doesn’t appear on any of the Affinity V2 apps. It is not hidden anywhere, I can continue to work on my file in Affinity. Simply the Print command is no longer responding. In the other apps on my computer it works normally, the problem exists only on Affinity. The MikeTO’s proposal to erase user data at opening does not solve anything. I specify that I restarted my computer several times, I uninstalled and then completely reinstalled the Affinity apps, I even restored them from my Time Machine backup of a day when the print was working. But the problem remains... Those who have had this problem, how did you solve it?? Thank you for your help! Quote

Please don’t post the same problem in two different threads as doing so can ‘dilute’ the discussion making any answer, if one is forthcoming, more difficult to find. (Also, bugs in V1 don’t usually get fixed unless they stop the application running in a major way.) Quote
LeeJB Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 I have the same issue on my MacBook Pro, M1, Sequoia 15.1.1. Affinity 2.5.7. After clicking on the Print box in the dialog box, there is no print interface box that pops up to set up the printer details. If I restart the program I am able to get this to work the first time I try it, but every attempt after fails. Quote
MikeTO Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 This is a somewhat frequent problem: @VeF and @LeeJB If you have the entire suite: Does the same problem occur in all three apps? If you're unable to print from Photo or Designer you might be able to from Publisher. It's harder to print an afpub from Designer or Photo because they're not intended for multiple pages. Does the same issue occur with another account on your computer? If you don't have a guest account, just create one with System Settings and try printing from there. What exactly happens when you choose Print? I understand that the dialog is not appearing, but are you able to work with the open document? If the dialog is open but hidden, you should hear a system beep and be unable to work on the document. If you can continue working, that means the print dialog failed to open, likely due to a printer settings issue. Try deleting your printer settings - choose Apple > System Settings > Printers & Scanners and then click each printer in the list and select Remove Printer. Restart your computer. Add one printer back. Open Affinity and try to print. Good luck! VeF Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Sorry, I don’t know if I can answer here, my problem is on V2, I’m not in the right thread... I made a mess by posting on V2 and V1 😬 But for the record, this problem suddenly disappeared, as mysteriously as it appeared, after having bothered me for long weeks... However, no updates had been made in the meantime, neither of my system nor of Affinity. Otherwise: 1 - yes it affected all 3 Affinity apps 2 - I did not try to print from another account (if it happens again, I will try) 3 - Yes I could continue working on Affinity, it’s as if the app had completely ignored my print order 4 - I tried to reinstall the app/ my printer etc, it had not changed anything Thank you, and good luck to those who have this problem too! Arron Posted May 22 Posted May 22 I recently had a similar issue that was happening across my Mac. Any time I would try to print anything, it would skip the print dialogue and just start printing. My guess is that the issue may have affected the Affinity Suite in a similar fashion. The fix that helped me was going to Settings > Printers & Scanners then either right click/two finger click/control + click on one of your printers and click Reset Printing System... This will remove all of your printers, but it fixed my issues and I hope it can help you as well. Good luck! Quote
