DallasP
I have been experiencing an issue with AD when attempting to copy an object either with ctrl+c shortcut or through the context menu. When copying an object in AD, my desktop begins to flicker non stop which prevents me from clicking and keeping focus on anything. This is includes any application running and not just AD. The only way I am able to prevent it is to go to the login window and log back in. This behavior happens regardless of which app I have open and am actively focused in when AD is open. For instance, when the flickering is not occurring, and I am in my Mozilla browser and do a ctrl+c, the flickering begins. I do the login window/log in to reset the flickering. I close AD and do the same thing in Mozilla, and the copy works fine which then makes me believe it is an AD conflict with the OS or something. This behavior occurred in both Windows 10 and 11 since around March/June time (so whatever AD versions were active then) and on different computers. Current version is 1.10.5. walt.farrell
Look for 3rd-party software, possibly a clipboard manager. Also check the FAQ, particularly looking for things like Nahimic: Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. DallasP
Of the list of software I only noticed nahimic (however not with asus) and I stopped the service as suggested but the same behavior still occurs. It seemed that nahimic often caused more rendering issues which is not the problem I am having.
Dan C
Does the same thing occur with Hardware Acceleration disabled? Edit > Preferences > Performance > Which video card does your computer to have and is the driver up to date? Lee
DallasP
Hardware acceleration disabled does not fix the issue. On one computer I have a GB RTX 2060 with drivers updated. And the other has a GTX 1050 Ti with drivers updated.
DallasP
So I cam across someone having this same issue but in Photoshop. It occurred when he updated Microsoft 10 to 11 and the solution had to do with preventing exporting of Photoshop data to the system clipboard. Is it possible that this can be a similar conflict with the Windows 11 system?https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop-ecosystem-bugs/p-windows-11-icons-and-menus-quot-flicker-quot-after-copying-a-selection-in-photoshop/idi-p/12726753 Also I have one other Windows 11 laptop with AD installed that does NOT have this issue I am having. Only main difference between this laptop and the other computers I am having issues with is that the working laptop is Windows 11 Preview, so the builds are different than the stable releases. DallasP
Linking another forum post with pretty much the same problem (I did search but did not find it originally, so don't give me a hard time). It does seem to be an issue with clipboard data but I would like to hear from an Affinity developer or rep that can comment on whether this is an issue that they need to take care of or if it is a Windows issue and we have to just deal with it. Ron P.
You linked to this (your) post.. Also that person that you linked to their post, is a Staff Member, Lee Thorpe This may not, and probably doesn't have anything to do with the flickering. Do you have the Clipboard History on? If so try turning it off and see if the flickering stops. Quote Affinity Photo 2.5..; Affinity Designer 2.5..; Affinity Publisher 2.5..; Affinity2 Beta versions. DallasP
Thanks Ron lol I have made the correction to the correct link. Staff Member can mean anything which is why I mentioned developer since they usually have a better understanding of product issues🙃 I have Clipboard History off as well as the sync option.
