themushroompress
Hello. I was recently putting together a project in Affinity and late into the process, I was adjusting some of the images and it crashed. Now whenever I try to open the file, it asks if I wish to recover an unsaved version; either response (or no response) it crashes. Is there a way to recover this file? It was eight hours of work I'd rather not repeat. LWF experimental layout problem.afpub
Staff Lee_T Posted August 3, 2022 Staff Share Posted August 3, 2022 Hi themushroompress, welcome to the forums. I was able to open the file and resave it, you'll have to relink the images but it looks intact. themushroompress
Thank you code wizard; my game owes your skills a debt. Do you happen to have any advice on how I can avoid a similar issue in the future? I'm not certain where I went south on this one
Old Bruce
Hmmm.... I checked both files and the one from @LeeThorpe (LWF experimental layout problem recovery.afpub) crashed but the one from @themushroompress (LWF experimental layout problem.afpub) didn't crash. Staff Lee_T Posted August 4, 2022 Staff Share Posted August 4, 2022 How very strange! @themushroompress My "code wizardry" in this case consisted of me opening the file and saving it. 🙌 Thanks for the info @Old Bruce I'll take a look. The OPs file crashes for me too, the recovered file not. Lee_T 1 Quote ---------- Windows 10 / 11, Complete Suite Retail and Beta
Staff Lee_T Posted August 4, 2022 Staff Share Posted August 4, 2022 @Old Bruce Just before I disappear down a rabbit hole looking into this weirdness, could you double check it was the recovery one that crashed? Lee Here is what I am doing with the files First the recovery file Screen Recording 2022-08-04 at 8.02.00 AM.mov Affinity Publisher_2022-08-04-080222_Bruces-Mac-Pro.crash I used the Crash Report window's reopen button to restart Publisher and had a blank no files open interface so I reopened the two files I had open at the beginning. and I opened the original. Screen Recording 2022-08-04 at 8.04.03 AM.mov I did a save as and that file crashed as well when I opened it.
