Jill Wolcott Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 First it started whenever I tried to place an IDML file. Then if I tried to open an idml file. I've restarted my desktop; I've restarted Publisher so many times I've lost count. It was working fine until yesterday (nearly a week?). Now it just crashed when I attempted to move a pinned table. Oy. This is frustrating. I am on the newest version. My mac is a 27-inch Late 2012 with an 3.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel i5. I'm running OS Catalina. I have hundreds of documents I am going to need to move via IDML. I am just now reworking a file that had previously been saved as afpub because I figure the time I spend reading forums and restarting is non-productive. Report JWK.pdf Quote
Dan C Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Hi Jill, Welcome to the forums. Would it be possible to supply us with the IDML file causing the issue so we can try and replicate it? https://www.dropbox.com/request/ugWaFbygWiVOYV569aBV Lee Quote
Jill Wolcott Posted June 16, 2022 Author Posted June 16, 2022 It is the second version. I took the photo out to see if that made any difference. Seville Accelerator.idml Quote
Old Bruce Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 That was a fast crash Affinity Publisher_2022-06-16-075631_Bruces-Mac-Pro.crash Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
Dan C Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Thanks for the file, I'm able to replicate this end as well, it's hard to nail down which feature is causing the crash as it leaves no report, but I'd suggest exporting as a PDF to import as a workaround. I tested this on your document and it seemed to work fine. We're always investigating issues with importing IDML's so this file will help us narrow down what causes the crashes so thank you for supplying it. Lee Quote
Jill Wolcott Posted June 16, 2022 Author Posted June 16, 2022 Pdf is much less desirable. I’ll try a couple of ideas I’ve had, but solving IDML is huge. I am working on CS6 which runs on an older MacBook Pro. I have to save to Dropbox, the open on my Desktop. Quote
Jill Wolcott Posted June 16, 2022 Author Posted June 16, 2022 Just as an update, I was able to open a different idml just now. No assets. Not sure if that has any impact, but the only thing I can think of being different. I told it not to look for resources as it opened it. All my master pages are there, but obviously I will need to import my graphics again (frankly, no biggie). Dan C 1 Quote

If they show as Missing in the Resource Manager, the Relink button may help you with that. https://affinity.help/publisher/en-US.lproj/pages/Media/resourceManager.html Dan C 1 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU.
