Affinity Designer crashes when exporting file and/or importing photo

Hi !

I've been stuck all day because the app keeps crashing. I do repeat patterns in 2.000 px x 2.000 px format. Once it's done, I save it as a png and insert it into a new document of a larger size, usually 11.000 px x 11.000 px. I place the image and duplicate it to make the repeat pattern. A few days ago, it kept crashing anytime I wanted to place a photo... And since then it's gotten worse and worse... now the app crashes anytime I try to export a png file as well. At first, it only crashed once I clicked on "share" or during the exporting process, without finally saving the file I tried to export into my photo roll. Now it even crashes when I try to select the artboard. The ipad is updated, the app too, I restarted my Ipad. I don't know what to do anymore. Please help.

I know you mention you've restarted the iPad but could you try a Forced Restart as outlined on this link: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/145410-faq-how-to-force-restart-your-ipad/

If that doesn't help, can you try saving the file and attaching it here?  To save the file see this link: https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/tutorials/designer/ipad/video/272724251/

Hi! Thank you so much for your reply. I tried the forced restart as outlined. Unfortunately the problem persists.

Many thanks for the video! Since it always shuts down when I try to export while working on an open file, it was very helpful to be able to supply this document.

Can someone from costumer support please get back at me regarding the issue? It's been a couple days and I cant work in the meanwhile !!!!

Your file size is generating a 450 mega pixel png image! I doubt that the iPad can handle that file size.

I set the output to 10000px and generated an output in a few seconds. Try that 🙂.
