Shape changes FX values when dragged into an image

Recommended Posts

I think this is an unexpected functionality, unsure if it’s a bug.

The layer fx of the nested layer gets scaled with the parent layer (in the sense of DPI). As your embedded image is probably scaled (having a different effective DPI than the containing document). It ignores „scale with object“ inactive, as the scaling is done on the level of the containing document and not on the curve layer level.

  • A 1/2 size: nested rectangle gets „compressed“
  • B 1/1 size:  above rectangle
  • C 1/1 size:  nested rectangle (identical to B)
  • D 2/1 size: above
  • E 2/1 size: nested get „streched“

You are probably aware of possible workarounds.  Just for other users who might find this thread:

  • Create a rectangle, no fill, no stroke, of the same size of the embedded image (snapping activated will help)
  • Nest the image layer into it,
  • and nest the curve with blur effect into it, atop the image.

The rectangle will now clip the blurring, but don’t change colors.
