Hello All,

We have an image that we traced using other software.

Next, we imported the vectorized image into Affinity Designer.

Now, we are trying to connect the open vectors that were left over.

Unfortunately, the process to connect vectors is unreliable.

Can anyone help with the issue?

I have created a quick YouTube video showing the issue. It is easier to show, than to explain in a text window.

Here is the link:

Affinity Vector Connect Issue

Thank you for the assistance.

It looks as though you were trying to create a T-junction. You would have to simulate that by grouping, because you can’t join interior nodes: you can only join the ends of curves.

Adding slightly to what @Alfred said, a node can connect no more than 2 path segments so wherever a node already connects 2 path segments you cannot add a third segment to that node. Thus, you cannot create a real T junction.

But it is possible to fake one by moving part of the curve back over itself, like in this Fake T junction.afdesign example, but that is of limited use because it is both fiddly & doesn't work if you want to fill in the curve with color.

I wonder if Inkscape or any other tool can join the vectors how we need.

As I understand it, no app that uses Quadratic Bézier curves can create T junctions in vector curves, including Inkscape.

Maybe if you explain what the end result will be, why are you making this design?

If you don't need to have a stroked curve, there is a function called Expand Stroke that converts a stroked curve into a curve shape, from this you can connect these shapes as you wish.
