gn53 Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 AP crashed and no longer wants to open the afpub-file. According to the error message, this file should already be open in another programme. Restarting the iMac did not change anything either. Please help (AP 1.10.5 - iMac2020,i7, MacOS Monterey 12.3) CCC6 Dokumentation.afpub Quote
Old Bruce Posted March 30, 2022 Posted March 30, 2022 I got a message that says: I have never seen this before and I have not heard of it before either. Quote Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.6 Affinity Designer 2.6.0 | Affinity Photo 2.6.0 | Affinity Publisher 2.6.0 | Beta versions as they appear. I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

When we've seen that before in the forums, I think it has usually been because a user has renamed a .autosave file to .afpub in an attempt to Open it when Affinity didn't offer at startup. gn53 Posted March 31, 2022 Author Posted March 31, 2022 Thank you for your quick reply !!! I have not renamed any autosave file! My work process was as follows: I copied finished elaborately designed pages from another afpub file and pasted them into the afpub file "CCC6 Documentation". Then I created many new master pages. AP then crashed during this work process. The file "CCC6 Documentation" could no longer be opened. Error message: The file could not be opened. The file is already open in another programme => Restarting the Mac did not help either. Is it possible that the error message "The file is a linked file ..." is due to the fact that I inserted elements from another file? I have been working with AP for a while now and I appreciate the software. But something like this has not happened to me yet. Is it possible to repair the attached afpub file "CCC6 Documentation", as several hours of work have been invested? Quote
Staff Lee D Posted March 31, 2022 Staff Posted March 31, 2022 @gn53 We’re sorry to hear that your Affinity document is no longer opening for you. As you've provided the file I can pass it over to our developers to see if we can recover any of its contents. We would obviously also like some additional information to see if we can work out the cause of the problem and stop it happening in future. To assist this process, as well as uploading your file, please can you also tell us the following: What drive type was the file last saved to (select more than one if needed)? Local disk USB disk/Flash disk Google Drive folder OneDrive folder iCloud folder Dropbox folder Network location Other (please specify) We suggest that you check to see if you have any backups of the document available in case we’re unable to recover the file. The investigation process can take some time, but we’ll be back in contact with our findings. Quote

The file was always saved on the local Macintosh HD 5 hours ago, Lee D said: We suggest that you check to see if you have any backups of the document available in case we’re unable to recover the file. The investigation process can take some time, but we’ll be back in contact with our findings. It is no longer necessary to restore the file, as I was able to restore a file only 1 hour older from the last Time Machine BackUp! The loss is therefore limited and you don't have to forward the corrupted file to your developers 5 hours ago, Lee D said: We would obviously also like some additional information to see if we can work out the cause of the problem and stop it happening in future. In the meantime, I tried to recreate the problem with the backup file and sure enough, AP crashed again, producing a crash report which I attach here. I hope you can do something with it and can work out the cause of the problem and stop it happening in future. Many thanks for your efforts! AP crash report.rtf Quote
