Toluca Posted March 9, 2022 Posted March 9, 2022 Using any tool the CPU utilization jumps to around 20%, GPU utilization jumps to around 80%. Both remain at that utilization even after closing the image (Attachment). Not until I close AP does the utilization return to normal. Windows 10 1909, Hardware acceleration set to Auto (tried other settings)-Nothing different Drag/drop image into AP. CPU/GPU normal. Using ANY tool, CPU/GPU utilization jumps to above values. Even using the blur brush, one click causes this behavior. Saving closing or just closing image has no effect on utilization. Only closing AP resolves this issue. This is not a new issue for me, has happened for about the last year. Thought you guys might fix it but apparently you're not aware or just ignoring it. Quote
Staff NathanC Posted March 9, 2022 Staff Posted March 9, 2022 Hi @Toluca welcome to the forums, Could you try disabling Hardware Acceleration (the last checkbox) in Preferences > Performance which should restart AP and then comparing GPU/CPU usages again? Please could you also attach a screenshot of your Performance Preferences. Quote
Toluca Posted March 9, 2022 Author Posted March 9, 2022 I tried disabling Hardware Acceleration, but it made no change. Performance Preferences attached. Another thing... attachments are a pain. Most of the time, the upload image hangs at 'uploading' Quote

Despite the high GPU usage are you experiencing performance issues when using AP? I would go through with a full reinstall of your GPU drivers, using Display Driver Uninstaller will ensure any faulty driver remnants are removed. https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html You can then reinstall the latest drivers by following the below link: https://www.nvidia.com/en-gb/geforce/drivers/ Quote
Mark Ingram Posted March 10, 2022 Posted March 10, 2022 @Tolucacan you show Task Manager in the Details view, sorted by CPU usage? I just want to confirm that it's actually Photo that is using the CPU after the image has closed. stokerg 1 Quote
Toluca Posted March 10, 2022 Author Posted March 10, 2022 NathanC - No other issues. AP is very stable. Mark Ingram - Requested screen shot attached. Thank you both for your help. Quote
Toluca Posted March 18, 2022 Author Posted March 18, 2022 I finally got around to following your suggestion of reinstalling my video drivers. Doing that corrected the issue. Thank you again. NathanC, SrPx and Mark Ingram 3 Quote
