patrick_h_lauke Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 A strange one ... I recently opened a .png file, then saved it as an .afphoto file. Reopening the .afphoto file, the image appears as a very low-res preview, even when zooming in etc. It only displays correctly after editing it (e.g. copying and then pasting something), but if the operation is small enough, it only visually updates the immediate area around the edit that was made. Closing the file and then reopening it seems to then make it display correctly. Steps to reproduce: open a .png file save it as an .afphoto close the image reopen the image (if it's not obvious at that point, try zooming in and note how it's showing a super-blocky low-res version) Attached is an example test.png, a screenshot of what it looks like when first opened in affinity photo, the test.afphoto saved straight after opening it, and a screenshot of what that .afphoto looks like once opened a second time - note how it's super blocky initially. This seems to only happen with .png files. Tried the same with .jpg and it appears fine when the .afphoto file is reopened. Affinity Photo 1.10.4.1198 test.afphoto Quote
Staff Callum Posted February 8, 2022 Staff Posted February 8, 2022 Hi Patrick, This should be fixed by the beta build found below please could you try and recreate this problem using that build and let me know if you run into any issues? patrick_h_lauke Posted February 8, 2022 Author Posted February 8, 2022 Hey Callum, I can confirm that the issue appears to be resolved in the beta. Good stuff. Quote
cniemi Posted February 17, 2022 Posted February 17, 2022 I'm having the same issue on the Mac. Loading AP files Gives a lo-res preview. If I switch personas back and forth the issue goes away on the image. Files are exporting fine. I tried the Beta for Mac and it has the same issue. Quote
ratioed Posted November 29, 2024 Posted November 29, 2024 This is still happening for me in AP 2.6.5 on Windows just as the OP described. Saving a processed .DNG as .AFPHOTO, reopen the .AFPHOTO, go to DEV persona - only a tiny thumbnail is shown. I was not using AP for months then came back, installed the update and the error is still there. Quite astonishing to be honest, such a basic thing not working for so long. Quote
