  1. I'm having the same issue on the Mac. Loading AP files Gives a lo-res preview. If I switch personas back and forth the issue goes away on the image. Files are exporting fine. I tried the Beta for Mac and it has the same issue.
  2. Hi I'm having issues with my preview resolution with native Affinity Photo images. If I open a JPG or PNG file in AP at full resolution it looks great. If I do a "Save As" Affinity Photo, close the document, then reopen it, I get a lo-res preview on my screen. When I export it back to JPG, PNG or TIFF, it looks great again. Also, when I have a native AP file open and I switch personas it clears the image up and I can switch back to the original persona with the higher res preview. I tried some of the things mentioned in this thread but I think my issue has to do with a performance setting and I can't for the life of me figure out where to go to fix it. I am running on two different Mac computers. An iMac and a MacBook pro. Same issue on both machines.
  3. I use AD to trace my sketches to vector starting with a scan as a backround template. There are some objects that I like to draw in outline mode for better accuracy, but in AD, when you go to outline mode, the pixel template isn't visible. Q: Is there a way to keep a template layer visable while in outline mode? For now, I move the template layer to the top, turn the opacity down, and lock it so it can't be selected. It's not a terrible workaround, but I think I would like it better if I could leave it visible in the background.
  4. This is a problem that has been going on with artists in Illustrator. An artist starts print project in RGB mode and uses the black swatch. And when their 2 color file goes to an offset printer, that printer says it will get 4 plates from that file. That problem is solved by starting in CMYK mode. In CMYK mode, black equals black. If the swatch the artist uses contains more than just black, the color values are used in the name of the swatch. It's not named black or a percentage of black. So if I start an illustration in Designer using the press ready preset with a cmyk color format, I, and I think many, many other designers would beleive that choosing a swatch with a name like 70% black would only have 70% black in it. And if I double click on that swatch and the CMYK sliders show that there is only 70% black in that swatch, I would be very surprised when the file i send to my printer has color I did not intend. And I was very surprised. Yes, I can work around this because I know about it now. This is going to cause a lot of headaches for other print designers and their print shops. I really like this application. It has changed how I do illustrations in a good way. But if I'm working in a cmyk color format I shouldn't be seeing a black that uses an RGB color format. In a CMYK "Press Ready" document, I shouldn't have an RGB black named black. Now I have to wonder what other color issues are built into a "Press Ready" document preset.
  5. when i double click on any of the swatches in my GREYS color palette, it only shows that it contains a % of black only. No other colors. but if i use that swatch in an object and export it to say PDFX for offset printing, I get 4 color process. If it is really intended to be a rich black, it should be labeled with the % of all 4 colors on the swatch. Not just black. If that is by design, it's a poor one.
  6. I agree that this is not correct behavior. In other graphics applications, if a swatch has a label that says 100% black, 50% black or any % of black, it does not and should not contain any other color. Is this a bug or is this how they intended it to work?
  7. I'm using the 1.5.1 version of Designer on the Macintosh and I'm noticing that when I choose a BLACK swatch from the Grey palette, it is not actually black but a build of CMYK. I start up my project as CMYK press ready document and all of the grey swatches from 100% down to 5% include magenta, cyan and yellow. Am I doing something wrong? Do I need an update? I can create a black object using the CMYK slider. Just the grey swatches that seem to be labeld wrong.
  8. When I got home last night, I cleared the defaults and it worked. Thank you for your help.
  9. I've been using Photo without problems until last night. Now I cannot get Photo to open at all. I let it try to start for 10 minutes (more than enough time) and then I have to go in and force quit. I deleted the application, and installed a new app twice and it still is unusable. The Beta version is still working just fine. But I think it' still too buggy to trust with everything. Not sure what else to do.
