Opacity gone after export to PDF

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding opacity and PDF export. I imported .png and set opacity. Everything works ok. But then I try to export whole design to PDF and opacity of that element is gone. Do you have any idea what am I doing wrong?

Thank you very much.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, @embedd_. :)

Your chosen PDF profile, using PDF/X-1a:2003, flattens transparency. It should make it look as though there’s transparency, as it has obviously failed to do here, but the bottom line is that it doesn’t support transparency. Try using PDF/X-4 instead.

Thank you for your insights. I tried PDF/X-4 with same results. I am trying to find some workaround but I am fairly new in Affinity. Would it be possible to change the PNG element so it looks like with the opacity selection? I tried rasterise but it doesn't do anything. I might miss something.

Did you use File > Place to import the PNG, and how did you 'set opacity' to what? The text or the paint splash. What was the colour space of the document, I see you want to have the output CMYK.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.
