Affinity Publisher: How to lay out a book

Recommended Posts

  • 2 years later...

Hi Rory,

I’m a complete newbie on Affinity publisher, and planning to create a book on My Life for my family. I have a number of Word documents I’ve created over the last 20 years or so, in all kinds of styles and fonts.  Just watched your 3-part tutorial on laying out a book, and loved it, thank you! First thing I need to do is to get all my originals to use the same styles and fonts, so I have a bunch of work facing me there!
My book will consist of about 2O chapters in about 5 or 6 parts and your example doesn’t cover how to handle that.
You also don’t insert any images, but I’m sure I can find out how to do that in the general Affinity tutorials.
Thank you once again for your efforts to help newbies like me … much appreciated!

Best regards,

Dave Whatmuff

One thing I found handy was Affinity Publisher ability to paste without format. In other words, set up your book in the style you want and when you are copying the data from other locations just paste it in without format. I don't recall what the default short cut is but I changed mine to Alt + V. It works great. You can change the shortcut key in preferences if you want.
