Dennison Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 Running Ben Sur 11.5.2 AP Beta 1.10.0 (1.10.0.1109) All good yesterday Today - pasted a small svg file from AD - AND immediately saved the file Crashed as soon as I tried to move the object Rebooted Mac Reopen - crashed (4 or 5 times) Terminal reports mention Fonts etc. but no fonts changed at all - pdf files with reports attached Recover file from earlier today (before pasted svg) from Time Machine and tried to open this earlier file (with different name) BUT AP opened the newer version with the new svg - even though file names are different When launch AP, the app window opens with the newer svg file already opened (which then crashes) . As you know, normally the AP blank window opens on launch. So currently locked out of all AP files Other issue/question Each day I rename the file I am working on - the document changes by a few drawings and short text day by day. BUT the saved file size varies greatly - 62.2 MB to 89.1 - for what is essentially the same document - see screenshot All help much appreciated - especially to get a version of the file open again. Thanks, Dennison AP Crash Report noon aug 12.pdf AP Terminal Reports Aug12.pdf
walt.farrell Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 If you press and hold the Ctrl key before clicking on the application to Open it, you'll get a Clear User Data dialog. One option there should say not to reopen any files that were open when you last closed the application. Try selecting that option, unselecting the others, and clicking the Clear button. -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Dennison Posted August 12, 2021 Author Posted August 12, 2021 Worked perfectly, thank you! any ideas why the file size might vary so much? also, just an observation from a non-programmer - the app seems to crash when new files are pasted only or mostly soon after either 1) app just opened, or 2) pasted object has just been added. Once the app has been open for a few hours or a few hours has gone by since a file was pasted, the app seems very stable. Probably coincidence, but I'm on the app 10-12 hours a day and have noticed the pattern. Thank you.

Staff Gabe Posted August 13, 2021 Staff Posted August 13, 2021 Hi @Dennison, It would be helpful if you could get this in a screen recoding so we could try and replicate. or even attach the 21 hours ago, Dennison said: Each day I rename the file I am working on - the document changes by a few drawings and short text day by day. BUT the saved file size varies greatly - 62.2 MB to 89.1 - for what is essentially the same document - see screenshot We don't streamline the native project files unless we have 25% redundant data. So, as you save, you will notice that the size goes up, and at some point it will streamline it and the file size will become smaller. However, when you Save as instead of Save, it forces it to streamline and the new file size is going to be the "correct" one, with no redundant data.
Dennison Posted August 13, 2021 Author Posted August 13, 2021 Okay thank you very much Gabe. Makes sense. Every morning, I Save As the file from the day before with today's date and carry on working - which means today's saved filed will not necessarily be streamlined. (This way I have a version history from day to day, in addition to two Time Machines backing up + cloud.)
