Rcphap Posted August 11, 2021 Posted August 11, 2021 Updated Windows Affinity Photo version from 1.9 to 1.10 and when you start main Photo screen comes up and within a few seconds it closes the app? Also, have Designer but am afraid to update to 1.10. Quote
SPaceBar Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 Hi @Rcphap Welcome to the Affinity forums! Do you know if you have any of these third party apps installed that could be causing a conflict? Quote
Rcphap Posted August 12, 2021 Author Posted August 12, 2021 I am using Surface Pro 3 with Windows 10. Running 1.9.2 ok before updating to 1.10. Not utilizing any of the listed apps that may be causing problems. Quote
Subclavius Posted August 12, 2021 Posted August 12, 2021 Do you have Hardware Acceleration enabled? If so, try disabling HA (Edit > Preferences > Perfomance) and see if the app still crashes. What hardware have you got? Quote

The default is to enable Hardware Acceleration if your graphics card and driver seem to handle the OpenCL functions that Affinity requires. If you can't get to Preferences, try: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/133116-faq-how-can-i-disable-opencl-compute-acceleration-on-windows/ or: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/136266-affinity-opencl-disabler/&do=findComment&comment=750959 Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. You might try an application reset by pressing and holding the Ctrl key before you click on the application icon in your Start menu or desktop. Keep Ctrl pressed until you see the application in the taskbar, then click on its icon in the task bar. Still keep Ctrl pressed until you get the Clear User Data dialog. In that dialog, you can leave the first 3 items checked, but also check the final item (Reset Account Data). Then click Clear. If that works, you'll be prompted to Register your account again, and it will have deleted any content previously sync'd from the Affinity Store (brushes, assets, etc.). Your issue may be with one of the free asset packs from the Store (iOS 11 pack), so if this works, do not synchronize that one again.
