dkistner Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 (edited) I’m using iFont on my M-1 iPad Pro, and Affinity Designer and Affinity Photo for iPad won’t recognize fonts I’ve installed with it. In the iFont Options there is a pop-up User Installed Fonts and IOS 14, the text of which I took screenshots of because I can’t select/copy it. I’m wondering if this might have anything to do with all the font problems being reported. I hope the Affinity team is working on this. Maybe iPadOS 15 will fix it? But it’s going to be difficult to get any work done if we have to wait for that, and I certainly do not want to have to install fonts into Affinity, given that my fonts are all on my iPad and there does not seem to be a way to install them except through iCloud. If it’s specifically a font manager problem, can somebody recommend the best font manager app to use on an iPad? Edited August 7, 2021 by dkistner Quote
walt.farrell Posted August 7, 2021 Posted August 7, 2021 I am also on an M1 iPad Pro, running 14.7.1 and Affinity Designer 1.10. I just installed several fonts via iFonts, and they are all usable by Designer. Staff Sean P Posted August 10, 2021 Staff Posted August 10, 2021 Hi dkistner, Its a good suggestion, but I don't believe this to be the case. iPadOS14 has been out for a while and fonts haven't been an issue. We're aware and have reproduced the issue Chinese and Japanese users are getting with fonts not loading, but still investigating whats going on for those other users (though I suspect it could be related to the above). Alfred Posted August 10, 2021 Posted August 10, 2021 In iPadOS 14 there is a change to the handling of fonts installed using configuration profiles, which means they aren’t listed as installed fonts in the Settings app, but in my experience this doesn’t seem to affect their availability in the Affinity apps. https://developer.apple.com/documentation/ios-ipados-release-notes/ios-ipados-14-release-notes Quote Alfred Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for Windows • Windows 10 Home/Pro Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher 2 for iPad • iPadOS 17.5.1 (iPad 7th gen)
