Elizabeth Klisiewicz Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Greetings, Today I tried to launch Affinity Photo and it will not open. It does not launch and does not appear in the Task Manager. I tried repairing the installation, and I uninstalled and reinstalled the application. It still will not open. I have no idea why it won't work. I first noticed an issue when I tried launching it via my FastStone Image Viewer, which has worked seamlessly for years. Then I tried launching it directly. In both cases, it will not launch. What could be the cause? Quote
nucleardirk Posted April 16, 2021 Posted April 16, 2021 Even if this youtube video is german it might help: there are youtube subtitles in english available Hope this might offer a solution! Westerwälder 1 Quote
Elizabeth Klisiewicz Posted April 17, 2021 Author Posted April 17, 2021 I could not find any subtitles for English and I don't speak German. But thanks for the link anyway. I have to look for another photo editor because this one no longer works for me. I am really bummed. Quote
nucleardirk Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Check this option, there are several workarounds shown which might work. hope this helps! Quote
Elizabeth Klisiewicz Posted April 17, 2021 Author Posted April 17, 2021 I saw where the CC was originally, but as I stated, there were no options for me to change the subtitles to English. Quote
Twolane Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Turn on CC (closed captioning). Then Settings / Subtitles / Autotranslate / German --> English or whatever you want. Quote
Twolane Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 You need to select Auto-translate. Elizabeth Klisiewicz 1 Quote
Elizabeth Klisiewicz Posted April 17, 2021 Author Posted April 17, 2021 Boy, that Autotranslate part was not obvious to me. I do get English subtitles now. Thanks. I will have to work on this when I have more time. Those are a lot of instructions. Maybe my .NET Framework got munged somehow. Quote
Elizabeth Klisiewicz Posted April 17, 2021 Author Posted April 17, 2021 Thanks for your patience. Quote
Twolane Posted April 17, 2021 Posted April 17, 2021 Have you disabled your anti-virus software and tried to open it? Quote
Komatös Posted April 19, 2021 Posted April 19, 2021 (edited) @Elizabeth Klisiewicz Please try the following steps. - Press the WINDOWS key+R; the Run dialogue box opens. - Copy %appdata%\affinity\photo\ and paste it into the input field. - Rename the folder 1.0. For example, 1.0_Backup - Create an empty folder 1.0 Now try to start Affinity Photo again. Elizabeth Klisiewicz Posted April 19, 2021 Author Posted April 19, 2021 Problem is solved. Worked with my IT guy and Symantec Antivirus was causing this problem for both Designer and Photo. It also was conflicting with features in other applications. nucleardirk 1 Quote
