Paste in front no longer working

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the update to 1.9.2.

However, it seems that when one thing gets resolved, another problem arises. We used to be able to copy a graphic, and just paste (Ctrl + V) and the graphic would paste in the exact same place as before. Now, with the new update, the graphic pastes in the middle of the screen, or slightly above the original graphic, and then continues to paste in the same place afterwards (until I move the view and then pastes in the middle of the screen area).

Please fix.

When they are going to fix this, it might be nice to have a separate paste in place command when copying from one document to another so that it retains the absolute coordinate position relative to the origin.Especially for more technical oriented drawings this would be useful to have. The regular paste command for pasting objects could then use a mouse click to position the location of the pasted object in case there is no positional match between documents.

The insertion, also of other open documents, works as expected. The copies are inserted exactly at the position they had in the parent document.

Hi LJ Swanepoel,

This appears to be working for me, however it is worth noting that if the object you've copied is not in view when you paste, then your object will be pasted so you can see it - this is not new behaviour to 1.9.2 and has existed for a long time to avoid catching people out who may think their object hasn't been pasted. For example if the object I've copied is in view then pasting it will paste it in the same place, if the object is not in view then it will paste in in the centre of the view in one of the dimensions so you can see it.

Would you be able to share a file that shows the issue you're getting, along with a screen recording that demonstrates the steps you're taking so we can reproduce the issue.
