der PAGEmaker Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 Is it possible that Affinity does not support higher bit depth on Windows? Photoshop has a "30 Bit Display" setting unter "Edit" > "Preferences" > "Performance" > "Graphics Processor Settings" section > "Advanced Settings..." button, how can a user check and/or enable this? Umiama Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 I guess you may need to check 'HDR' with F1 key Quote

Umiama Posted March 1, 2021 Posted March 1, 2021 I mean you may try enable HDR in '32-bit Preview' panel at the right bottom, if you use default studio layout. Quote

sfriedberg Posted March 3, 2021 Posted March 3, 2021 Just to summarize for those who didn't go read the other thread. 30-bit color support has nothing at all to do with HDR. 30-bit color is most often used by professional photographers and video editors for precision color grading. You need special hardware (both monitor and graphic card) for 30-bit color output as well as support from the software app. The Affinity software suite does not currently have 30-bit color support. der PAGEmaker 1 Quote
Nightjar Posted May 27, 2022 Posted May 27, 2022 2022 and till not there? How does Affinity want to be considered Pro of this is missing? Quote

Unfortunately it is related (mixed up) in Photo. To utilize more that 8 bit color channel depth, you need to activate HDR mode, and use RGB/32 document format. You don’t need to use higher than normal brightness in hdr mode. Rendering of RGB/16 documents without HDR mode is still capped to 8 bit color depth. What Photo is missing: 10 bit mode with RGB/16.
