Andrew Mumford
Can anyone explain / point me to a explanation how Blend Modes are supposed to work on FX Filters ? Particularly in the context of nesting an fx layer so it only affects a layer ? Thx
firstdefence
As far as my experience goes blend modes don't work on fx filters, they work on the layer content and fx filters are separate and distinct from the blend mode. By way of an example get a photo with black in it, change the blend mode to Screen, any pixel that is black will now be transparent. Now add an fx such as the outline filter and make it black. Notice it doesn't become transparent, in fact changing to any layer blend mode will have no effect of the fx filter. Are you actually talking about adjustment filters and live filters? kaffeeundsalz
Also, do you mean the blend modes of the live filter layers themselves, or are you asking how other layer's blend modes affect the appearance of live filter layers?
firstdefence
Logically I would expect the blend mode option within each adjustment and live filter to be a focused blend mode that does affect any filter or layer above it and as a nested filter will not affect any layer or blend mode below it and external to the nested stack.
