j3rry
I set with help of the fx, a frame around my picture, but why is it transparent? I had expect that the opacity is in the fx dialog is for the frame not for the whole picture ? sample_frame.afphoto Quote 24" iMAC Apple M1 chip, iPad 8, MACOS Sonoma & iPadOS, Affinity V2-Universallizenz
Staff MEB Posted January 19, 2021 Staff Share Posted January 19, 2021 Hi j3rry, You have the Opacity set to 48% (the second control below the dropdown on top on the right side). Set it to 100%. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
j3rry
Hi Meb, It is my intention to reduce the opacity, with 100 % everything is ok. Quote 24" iMAC Apple M1 chip, iPad 8, MACOS Sonoma & iPadOS, Affinity V2-Universallizenz
Staff MEB Posted January 19, 2021 Staff Share Posted January 19, 2021 It should only reduce the opacity of the outline/frame around the image not the image itself. Can you post a screenshot of the whole interface with the Layers panel visible or simply attach the document please? Thank you. j3rry
I have the document attached. sample_frame.afphoto Quote 24" iMAC Apple M1 chip, iPad 8, MACOS Sonoma & iPadOS, Affinity V2-Universallizenz
Staff MEB Posted January 19, 2021 Staff Share Posted January 19, 2021 Thanks j3rry. This is working as I'm expecting - see attached video (on Mojave). Are you saying the green area is becoming transparent for you when you change the Opacity of the Outline FX? Seems you are using macOS Big Sur - give me a minute to check there as well. outline_effect.mp4 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
j3rry
@MEB, as you have seen in your video the green area is becoming transparent, but i have expect that only the frame is becoming transparent. Staff MEB Posted January 19, 2021 Staff Share Posted January 19, 2021 In your file you have the Alignment set to Inside, which places the outline over the green area and thus that (common) part becomes transparent if that's you are referring to. I guess you were expecting it to become semi-transparent showing some of the green passing through the outline - is that what you are referring to? If you set the Alignment to outside and adjust the canvas size accordingly it will not affect the green area. j3rry
In PS i see no transparency when i apply a similar fx. The goal was to apply a „light“ frame around the picture. I think that the behaviour is not correct, but thats only my view. Staff MEB Posted January 19, 2021 Staff Share Posted January 19, 2021 I'm seeing the same exact behaviour in Photoshop (see video below). Maybe i'm misunderstanding/missing something? Can you record a video of what you are doing in Photoshop? frame_stroke_photoshop.mp4 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
j3rry
I think the difference is that in PS exist a option "overprint" which is missing in AP, see screenshot below. Staff MEB Posted January 19, 2021 Staff Share Posted January 19, 2021 Yes, it doesn't have it. This is more a feature request than a bug. I'm moving this thread to the Feature Requests section. Seems the Noise (for the colour) isn't working. I'm logging this as well. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
carl123
Is this the effect you want? If so, just do what you are doing but do it on a duplicated background layer Quote To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. j3rry
@MEB, Thank you, The option has been on for ages, I never thought about it. Quote 24" iMAC Apple M1 chip, iPad 8, MACOS Sonoma & iPadOS, Affinity V2-Universallizenz
j3rry
Ok thanks Carl, but this will increase the size of the afphoto file. But most of the cases i have a unmodified layer which i duplicate on startup. Staff MEB Posted January 19, 2021 Staff Share Posted January 19, 2021 Or just draw a rectangle with the dimensions of the canvas, set the white stroke alignment to inside and adjust the opacity accordingly. In any case providing the option that Photoshop offers would help with PSD compatibility when exchanging files between the two. j3rry 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
