nerdess
I like to select a square area but with rounded corners. How can I achieve that?
Alfred
Welcome to the Serif Affinity Forums, @nerdess. Draw a round-cornered rectangle with the Rectangle Tool. With the shape still selected, switch to the Pen Tool and press the ‘Selection’ button on the Context toolbar (and then delete the shape layer if no longer required). Old Bruce
Hi and welcome to the forums @nerdess, I would use the elliptical marquee tool to select the corner (plus some of the interior) then switch to the rectangle marquee tool to add to the top part then the righthand side. There is a set of buttons for add subtract and intersect on the context toolbar, View > Show Context toolbar. So three steps for the little bit shown in your screen shot, if it is all four corners then you select them all first using add and then switch to the rectangle select. Or... now that I think about it. You could draw a rounded rectangle of the correct size over the object and choose it with the move tool an go to Select > Selection from Layer. Edit for spelling mistakes and to allow Alfred to get here first. GarryP
An alternative to the above could be to create the initial selection area smaller than the area you want and then use menu “Select → Grow/Shrink”, set the Circular option ON, and then increase the Radius value (see attached image). It probably won’t give you an accurate result as easily as the other techniques but it’s something worth knowing about.
