AndyGordon
Just tried the Nik collection on an M1 MacBook Pro and whilst the plugins are visible in the menu, selecting e.g Color Efex does nothing at all. I've also got DxO and this works wit the Nik collection just fine on the M1 MacBook. I've also tried the same with the same version of Affinity Photo and Nik collection on a 2015 iMac running Big Sur and that works. I've also tried the beta version on the M1 Mac and that fails as well as the production version

Tony Seeley
I have the same problem. I'm using 1.8.6 on an M1 Mac and also can't get the Nik Collection to work. They work fine in Photoshop - kind'a disappointing :(
AndyGordon
I’ve found that if you start affinity under intel emulation rather than m1 native then Nik and affinity works as they should its when you have the mix of affinity running native m1 and Nik running on intel that it doesn’t work

Tony Seeley
Thanks, actually that makes a ton of sense and worked fine. Really appreciate the help guys, excellent 🙂 So I guess we need to wait for DxO to release an M1 version of NIK to make it work without Rosetta
Focus9
Thank you. Wonderful tip. It works! I do not understand why apple is not making notes of this! We are all learning!
FitzRaymond
Where do I get Rosetta? I can find nowhere on Apple's site that offers a download link for Rosetta.

Rosetta is preinstalled(part of the system) you don't need to install it by yourself.
Tony Seeley
If you have an Apple M1 computer, the OS comes with Rosetta installed I think. I didn't have to install anything new. Just right click on the app select "Get Info" and then check the checkbox that says Open with Rosetta.
Veit
When will the Nik plugins be available as a native M1 app, rather than forcing the use of the Rosetta emulator?
AndyGordon
That’s up to DXO to say as it’s their product
