Can guides in Affinity Designer be locked / unlocked?

Recommended Posts

No, unfortunately this is not possible, since guides are layer-independent. But … there is some kind of workaround:

  • Set up a custom guide system (guides drawn out of the rulers).
  • “Double” each guide with a line using the Pen Tool, all of them on a dedicated layer.
  • Lock the layer.
  • Set the guides invisible, so they cannot be moved by accident.
  • Engage the “Snap to guides” option, but disengage the “Only snap to visible objects” option in the snapping behavior panel.

This way you can see the guides (namely the doubled ones), but cannot move them (since the visible ones are locked, and the real ones are hidden) ...  ;)
