Can't see non-stroke ractangle in PDF

Recommended Posts

I don't think there's any way to see something that has no fill and no stroke/outline. Can I ask why you're exporting it as a PDF before you've done the design?

That's just an example for explain.

There is no print shop using Affinity Designer in South Korea.

So, I have to send a PDF file to print shop.

No, what I'm getting at is why are you wanting to get it printed if it is blank? If it's a business card don't you need to put some information on it before getting it printed?

I would have thought it was better to do the whole design in AD, then export as a PDF to send to the printer.

I can't speak/write English Well. Please understand.

I made this business card with affinity designer

Print shop said, "If you designed non-color background card, You need to make a card sized non-color rectangle (for cutting line)." So, I did.

For send to Print shop, I exported a PDF file, and open it for check. (at affinity designer)

As you see, I can't select card sized non-color rectangle in a PDF file.

Or add a white background to the business card in the size of the business card. As White won't print, there should be no problem for your print shop.

I think the problem is that the printshop don't know where to cut at the right hand side, because it's white, so adding a white background wouldn't really help. The obvious thing would be to add printer's marks when exporting the PDF, but I'm not sure if that would do in this case. It really depends on how they are going to print/cut the cards – each one on a separate piece of card, or several "up" on a larger sheet. Of course you could add a faint outline to the whole card (or just a line at the right) but the problem is if they will be able to cut accurately enough to cut the card without the line showing.

but I'm curious because there is no problem when I used Adobe Illustrator.

AD and Illustrator are both design software. You can see a bounding box (when it's selected) even if it has no fill or outline. PDF is used for printing (along with other things) so it doesn't show anything which, effectively, isn't there.
