Algeisse
Hi, I want to purchase Affinity Photo on my 7th generation iPad (2019) or in my macbook air 2020 (i3 10th generation processor 1,1 GHz with turbo boost up to 3,2 GHz, 8GB RAM). Which one would work better? (In terms of performance) And just to be sure, both the ipad and the mac version are a one time purchase without any subscription? Thanks in advance Alexander Geisse Edited September 20, 2020 by Algeisse
walt.farrell
Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums. The iPad and Mac versions have somewhat different workflow, given their different physical characteristics. And the iPad apps lack some of the functions of the desktop apps. I think the real question is which workflow would you like better, more than "which performs better". But I will let iPad and/or Mac users comment further on that. Regarding purchase: Yes, each application is a one-time purchase, without a subscription. That one-time purchase gets you the current release and all further releases in the 1.x version of the application (1.8, 1.9, etc. until version 2.0). If/when Serif decides to release version 2.0 that would require another purchase, if you want to use it. But your 1.x version would keep working. Note that the license is platform-specific. If you purchase a license to use one of the applications on Mac and later decide you want to use it on iPad, that will require a second purchase. Blende21
Get both - the Mac version for the full workflow, the iPad for everything related to the pencil, and some nice quick workflows. Use iCloud to save to the same storage - the file format is identical and allows to start on one device, and continue on the other. Algeisse
Thank you! I'm using it as a tool to digitally restore old black and white pictures from my family. I bought the iPad version because I'm not really familiar with photo editing software and I believe it's easier to learn. Now let's watch some tutorials. Thanks again! Blende21
Especially for photo Restauration you will find the iPad version with the pencil most useful. Just take your time to learn the gestures (1, 2, 3, more fingers ...), because the iPad version relies heavily on them.

I like to restore our old photos too. Some have very little detail but it’s fun restoring missing bits and fixing up damage. This was my dads old 1932 Humber.
