Albo
I want to add hyperlinks on a map in my Publisher document. Clicking on the link will bring us to a different page of the same document. I can't seem to find this??? Thanks. Quote iMac mid-2017 3,6 Ghz / 32G
walt.farrell
If the map is one image, you could add 1 hyperlink to it, allowing you to go to one different page. If you want to have multiple hyperlinks, then you'd need to have the image split into multiple pieces, and each could have a hyper link. Or you'll need to put some text frames over the map, and each text frame could contain a hyperlink. Can you clarify what it is you're trying to do, @Albo? Albo
Thank you. I wanted to use one map with multiple hyperlinks but it looks, after reading your answer, that it can't be done. Is it possible to put blank text frames over the map and use them as hyperlinks? Quote iMac mid-2017 3,6 Ghz / 32G

I'm not sure that an empty text frame (or a transparent object, which might be better) would work, as I haven't tried that. It might not be clickable in the exported PDF. Another problem might be: how would the user know where to click, if there's nothing visible. Clicking on a name would work. Or, if the map were cut into multiple pieces (one per area that has additional information available) then clicking anywhere in that area could work. Albo
The map has bullets where we click. Transparent object is a good idea. I will also try that. I'm really trying not to cut my map in different pieces. Quote iMac mid-2017 3,6 Ghz / 32G
walt.farrell
If you're clicking on bullets, couldn't you: Create a selection including the bullet. Duplicate (Ctrl+J or Cmd+J depending on OS). Apply the hyperlink to the duplicated layer. max1josef
I have the same requirement: I want to define areas with hyperlinks on drawings. Somewhat similar to image maps in HTML. So far it seems that the only thing you can apply hyperlinks to in publisher is text. My workaround is applying hyperlinks to text which I than make invisible. An empty text frame does NOT work. I don't know what you mean by applying hyperlinks to layers. How would you do that? Maybe this is a topic for the whishlist? Hello @max1josef, you can apply hyperlinks in APub to almost everything, not just text. The only shortcoming is that 'Insert Hyperlink' is listed in the 'Text' menu which is a little misleading. It becomes a little more clear if you look for 'View > Studio > Hyperlinks' that these are not limited to text only. With this knowledge you can divide your map or drawing into seperate areas where each has its own hyperlink. Albo
Thank you all. I will be trying this out soon. And yes, it is a bit misleading to have it only in the text menu...last place I would have looked! Quote iMac mid-2017 3,6 Ghz / 32G
Albo
Here is what I did. I don't know if it is the best but it works for now. Added a transparent image on top of the map bullet . It is not empty but a transparent circle. I then added an anchor in my text where I want the bullet to go. This way I can add many transparent images on top of my bullets on the map. I tried this with one bullet and it worked so it should works with many...hopefully! Quote iMac mid-2017 3,6 Ghz / 32G

Leaving-Adobe
Ok, I guess that is a problem for many who can't or don't want to work anymore with Adobe Illuustrator. Hopefully it is being implemented soon.
blaustift
I totally agree and would strongly suggest for the affinity team to implement functions used creating interactive pdfs and according export options.
