Gort
Hello, I have a rather urgent issue I'm trying to solve. After a PC fatality, I have brought in a new PC and rebuilding my data to get myself back up and running as quickly as I can. I tried all day yesterday to install AD and AP but with no luck. I've even downloaded older versions to see if I can get anything installed and maybe then I can update them, but nothing works. I also tried to run the install file in safe mode, but I get the same result - just a blank image, exactly the same for Designer or Photo. I'm really hoping I can get some help here to get these applications running again as soon as possible. I'm running a fresh install of W7 on an ASUS H97 board, i7 CPU, 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD Thanks in advance. G

You need both the service pack and the platform update for successful installation of recent versions of the Affinity apps on Windows 7. Staff stokerg Posted August 22, 2020 Staff Share Posted August 22, 2020 Hi @Gort, Further to what Alfred has said, Check this FAQ: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/98922-faq-installer-errors-setup-failed-installer-windows-ui-issues/&tab=comments#comment-541686 If you follow the advice on the 2nd point and install Windows .NET Framework and then rerun our setup, it should either then install or at least display a proper error message instead of just a blank window Alfred

I'm running W7 SP1 - but I know nothing about the Platform update you mention. 7 minutes ago, stokerg said: Hi @Gort, Further to what Alfred has said, Check this FAQ: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/98922-faq-installer-errors-setup-failed-installer-windows-ui-issues/&tab=comments#comment-541686 If you follow the advice on the 2nd point and install Windows .NET Framework and then rerun our setup, it should either then install or at least display a proper error message instead of just a blank window Thanks Stokerg, I don't believe I have .NET Framework installed. Installing it now. Would I still need to install this Platform Update?? Or maybe I should install .NET first.....
Aad Slingerland
The application Affinity Photo is based on Microsoft .NET framework version 4. You can see that in "c:\Program Files\Affinity\Affinity Photo\Photo.exe.config" . Windows 7 out of the box does have .NET framework installed but only up to version 2 AFIK.
