Arnauld
Hi, I'm new to this kind of apps and I have, I think, a simple question. Let's say I have two layers made with the pen tool, one is a circle, the other one is a square. If I put the square layer on top of the circle layer, I can see the circle line in the square. The thing is I'd like the circle to be hidden by the square, even if I move the circle around. Every time the circle passes behind the square, I don't want to see it in the square. I know I can do that with a layer mask and a selection but it's not very flexible (or I don't know how to make it flexible). As I'm not sure I'm very clear (not native English), I attached some files. PicA is what I get, PicB is what I want (dynamically). Oh, and I need the square to be transparent inside. Many thanks! GarryP
Welcome to the forums. One ‘cheap’ way to do this would be to make a copy of whatever is in the background and put that copy inside the layer you want to be on top and use “Lock Children” when you move the layer on top, see attached video. It probably won’t work in all situations but it might be good enough for what you need. There could be much better ways so please come back later to see if anyone else has posted a better solution. 2020-07-08 12-38-30.mp4
Arnauld
Hi, thank you very much for your quick replay, it's not an easy solution but why not. Any other idea? Thanks!
JimmyJack
If you're willing to use the erase blend mode (which causes rasterization on export (icydk)) then you might as well just use the Outline FX instead of a stroke.... and only have one set of objects . firstdefence
Why not place nodes at the line intersections on the round shape and break the curve and delete the curve section in the square. That would work fine for a static arrangement, of course, but it doesn’t address this requirement: On 7/8/2020 at 10:42 AM, Arnauld said: The thing is I'd like the circle to be hidden by the square, even if I move the circle around.
