konstantnnn
I don’t know how I didn’t notice this before, Affinity doesn’t display wide color at all! This is a comparison with a wide-color P3 image in Safari and how it looks when imported in Affinity Photo or Designer on iPad. All imprted images get clipped to SRGB even if I tell the app to work in wide color. This is not happening in Procreate or any other app that supports wide color. konstantnnn
This was not happening a few months ago when I was working on something in P3 or Adobe RGB Quote Hackintosh running Big Sur 11.2.3, Coffe Lake i3 with UHD630 graphics MacBook (Early 2015) running macOS Mojave iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation) running iPadOS 13.5 Vista PC in the attic
konstantnnn
And this isn’t happening with imported images only, I literally can’t create any colors with the color picker that are outside srgb. konstantnnn
Once I export an image and view it in the photos app, it’s normal and in wide color. The preview in Photo&Designer is broken and only srgb or below Quote Hackintosh running Big Sur 11.2.3, Coffe Lake i3 with UHD630 graphics MacBook (Early 2015) running macOS Mojave iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation) running iPadOS 13.5 Vista PC in the attic

Pretty sure Affinity have not yet implemented P3 colour space 'feature' yet on iPads. It worked two weeks ago. I don’t know what you’re talking about. It was broken by the last update. There is a whole set of color choices, but all images with a wider color space than srgb are clipped. CMYK works as before. I'm referring to Dans (moderator) reply to a similar question regarding Lack of P3 support. Also I still can’t find anything about P3 support in Help file. I suspect Ipad won't 'clip' P3 colour gamut (thanks to P3 display profile) but AP won’t display it either. As far as I am aware this has not changed. I may be wrong though as considerable time has passed since that post, in which case I'm sorry.🙂 To quote Dan 😄 “Having spoken to our developers I've been informed the iPad version doesn't currently support P3 display. The colour profile is available such that your colours are not clipped if working on a P3 document as I mentioned above.” Original thread linked below (similar question regarding Lack of P3 support) Dan C 1 Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). konstantnnn
Trust me, it was there. They introduced it in 2019 or even earlier as far as I recall. I literally worked on so many design concepts for iOS apps that had P3 elements that worked completely well. It bugged now since the update. I am not crazy, just wish developers will respond and fix the issue. konstantnnn
I wouldnt’t notice it was broken if the iPad didn’t display P3 in the Affinity Photo app in the first place. konstantnnn
Here’s a post that is exactly the same as mine, but from a year ago. Seems like the bug resurfaced exactly one year later. :)) And because the iPad is my main computer I now can’t work until it’s fixed. Staff Chris B Posted June 24, 2020 Staff Share Posted June 24, 2020 Hey konstantnnn, We have never supported the P3 colour space display for iPad. It should be fine for export though, as long as you'rte exporting with the document profile and view it in a colour-managed app. The iPad hasn't had an update for a while so nothing would have changed our end. Also, the linked thread is Sean confirming the known issue is lack of support for P3. Not that it has recently broken. We still use OpenGL layer and it needs to be native Metal for P3 compositing Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials

Staff Chris B Posted June 26, 2020 Staff Share Posted June 26, 2020 I think your output would be spot on but the actual display in the app would not correctly reflect the P3 colour space being used. I've asked 3 developers to confirm if we have ever supported it and they said it's planned for the future as we absolutely should be by now. konstantnnn
I’m really sorry again, yes the output image is in p3 and displayed correctly in the Photos app. I just swear I had the impression I was working in P3 for months and accidentally noticed that I wasnt just around the time i updated the app. thank you for taking your time, I love my mac and ipad apps and can’t wait for publishet on ipad : ) Chris B 1 Quote Hackintosh running Big Sur 11.2.3, Coffe Lake i3 with UHD630 graphics MacBook (Early 2015) running macOS Mojave iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation) running iPadOS 13.5 Vista PC in the attic
Staff Chris B Posted July 2, 2020 Staff Share Posted July 2, 2020 No worries at all. This is something we want and need to sort sooner than later. It's on the radar for sure Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
